Mangaluru: The Ninth Graduation Day ceremony of St. Aloysius Institutions was held here on Saturday, June 1.
The ceremony was held at the Loyola Hall of the St. Aloysius P U College, where final year students of 2018 pass out graduate and post graduate students were conferred with the convocation certificates.
Former vice-chancellor, Christ (Deemed to be University), Rev. Dr. Thomas C Mathew was the chief guest.
Provincial, Karnataka Jesuit Province and President of Mangaluru Jesuit Educational Society Rev. Dr. Stanislaus D’Souza SJ declared the ceremony open.
Registrar of St. Aloysius College Dr. A M Narahari read out the list of rank holders and graduates.
The welcome address was rendered by Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis SJ, Principal, St. Aloysius College (Autonomous).
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Dr. Thomas Mathew said that the students who were going to be officially graduates would be making their way into the outer world which would be filled with challenges and for which the parents and teachers of the students have prepared them.
Rector of St. Aloysius Institutions, Rev. Dr. Stanislaus D’Souza SJ congratulated the graduates on the occasion and thanked all the teaching and non-teaching staff for being the pillar of support in the students' academic journey. He wished that these students of the college be the face of the college in the mere future.
He said, “Once an Aloysian, always an Aloysian.”
Medals and convocation certificates were conferred on the students. Among the 1982 graduates, 1101 were from UG, 756 from PG and 125 Diploma.
The college choir led the gathering into prayer.
On a concluding note, college anthem and national anthem were also sung to conclude the ceremony.
